Hello All!

I haven't updated in ages, the combination of being busy and lazy has pushed blogging to the back of my agenda.

In case you weren't aware, I am in Denver now, I've been having fun. :) The first few days here were hard, I didn't know anyone and I missed my friends, but I've made new friends here and all is well. Classes are ok, right now I'm mostly in foundations classes that aren't all that different from what I did in high school, but once I start taking more major-specific ones it'll get much more interesting (I'm going for a degree in 2-D animation).
My drawing teacher is just as evil as one of my high school teachers was, denying me the right to use pencils in order to "see what happens when I have no control". I understand why he's pushing me to try new things, but I don't like the charcoal, I want my graphite back *poutyface*.

My friends and I went to a club last night, it was the first time any of us had ever been to one. It was, um... interesting. I can't really decide if I liked it or not, I think it would've been more fun if we didn't keep getting hit on by creepers. We decided that next time we're bringing guys we know with us so as to avoid those sorts of situations. One guy offered me a beer, I was like "no thanks, 19..." XD
I've had a few drinks with my aunt in the privacy of her home, but I plan to avoid alcohol at parties and other similar situations. I've never been drunk so I don't know what the consequences will be, nor do I ever want to find out.

Dorm life is pretty cool, ours is an old hotel that was renovated to become student housing. It's got students from a couple different schools that aren't big enough to have their own dorms. I have a roommate, who I get along with pretty well (she's hardly ever here anyways). I really wanted a room with a view of the mountains, but instead I get to see beautiful I-25 in all it's asphalt glory. One day I got really bored and started counting how many different colored VW Bugs passed by. I got to 9 within an hour. Surprisingly I can't hear the highway from my room, even though it's right outside. I wish our doors were that soundproof- there's this group of people that frequently like to get drunk and hang out in the hallway. I was once woken up by screaming laughter at 3 am.  On a Wednesday.  What. The. Hell. Can't they hang out in another school's hallway? I have 8am class that day, ass-holes, shut up.... If it's a weekend, ok fine, I can deal with it, but on days when everyone has class? Seriously?
For the most part everyone is pretty friendly, if I pass someone in the hall we usually say hi even if we don't know each other, but some of them really need to tone down the obnoxiousness.

The weather here in Colorado is pretty similar to Indiana, just much dryer. Which I like, it's nice being able to walk outside in the summer without my hair instantly becoming frizzy. Apparently there is no such thing as Autumn, though. The leaves are starting to change color, but it's been a pretty consistent 75-80 degrees the whole time I've been here. The dorm has a pool, which was open until about mid-September and then they closed it for the season, even though it's still very nice and swimable outside. I was sad. According to one of my friends, who is a Colorado native, it'll be really nice out for a while and then one day it'll just start snowing and it won't stop until April.

Well, that's pretty much it for me right now, what's up with you guys?

Wow, it's been a long time since you posted but its been a busy, busy time. I started college at Purdue. It's better than I thought it would be. So, you went to Denver to school? Where?

I hope you get this or possibly still check your LJ. I'd like to talk sometime if you get a chance. I'm just a little curious about how your life is going.

Hey Katie! It's been really long time. I actually log on here quite frequently to see what other people are up to but don't have much time to update my own page. How have you been? I'm doing okay at the moment (putting off homework, actually...), I'm going to Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design for a degree in 2D Animation. What are you studying at Purdue?

When I applied originally, I went in for Literature, but now I'm undecided but there is a good chance I will end up back in Literature. Who knows...?

I turned my LJ into an icon journal because I was using it mostly for that purpose so I don't talk too much on here. I talk about personal junk on my blog on blogspot.com.

I haven't been up to much, just doing the whole school thing. That's really awesome that you are going into 2D animation. I wish I knew exactly what I wanted to major in but there are many different things I'm interested in, I keep thinking about going into something in the film industry. Part of me wants to be a scriptwriter! I think that's my ultimate dream job.

So do you like living in Denver? Is it any different from Highland? You meet any nice people?

Scriptwriting would be fun. Maybe we could do a project together some day! XD
People keep asking me if I want to work for Disney or something, but I'd really like to make films for adults, not the cute kiddie stuff.

Denver's pretty cool, very dry, and I like the fact that you can drive from downtown to the mountains in less than half an hour, but otherwise it's not that different from home. I have a good group of friends here, it's been fun so far. How about you? Met anyone new?

No, I haven't really met anyone new. I'm not too much of a conversationalist as you may know. I've seen several people from high school asking me what the hell happened to me, but that's about it.

I'd figure you would have wanted to work for Disney but it's cool that you want to do something different. What kind of films would you want to work on when you mean adult films (I know you don't mean porn, even though I keep thinking this when I see this phrase)? I wonder how 2D animation is used in mature films...

I would love to travel, go someplace else but I don't think I'm ready for that. It sounds very nice where you are.

I really wish I could work in film, but I don't know jack about film making. I know stuff from watching DVDs and stuff. but I don't know about technical parts. Of course, if I want to write scripts I don't think that plays too much of a part in it. I know someone who actual directs his own movies, and have thought about trying to contribute or something, but I'd feel like a goof. It is something I feel strongly about even if I don't know a whole lot about it.
